The main goal of the article is the confrontation of political statement with the statistical data and current sectoral trends within the shipbuilding industry in Poland. Firstly, we introduce a historical background in a scope of economic transition in Poland. Then, socio-political issues are addressed together with economic condition using statistical data. Lastly, the newest trends and perspectives are analyzed.
