The execution of such and similar tasks requires: multidisciplinary approach, adequate selection of personnel and resources, successful deployment of forces to inapproachable terrain, efficiency locating of sunken objects and original solutions. The primary aim of this paper is to highlight the key elements of search and rescue operation through the form of a case study which is based on detailed analysis event of the recovery of a sunken fighter jet from the "GruĆŸa" Lake in the Republic of Serbia. The methods that will be applied in the preparation of this work will be based on fundamental scientific methods in order to provide valid and comprehensive data about the event. For instance, content analysis of command documents will provide key information such as: forces, resources, time of engagement, organization, etc., while the interview method will gather date from direct participants regarding to the problems, challenges and specific solutions which were applied in the field.
