%X The article treats of problems bound with the tracking of surface water targets in RIS systems. A concept of RIS has been briefly presented, indicating the need for locating in them the tracking and tracing of ships.  The most popular sensors used for the purpose have been characterised, the most important relevant documents have been presented and the requirements set for tracking systems have been described.
